Gujarat tourism has witnessed a significant surge in tourist numbers, with over 1.35 crore visitors flocking to its renowned destinations between April 1 and June 10 this year. This marks a 17% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to a statement from the state government.

The state’s key attractions, including the Statue of Unity, Atal Bridge, Riverfront-Flower Park, Kankaria Lake, Somnath Temple, Ambaji Temple, Pavagadh Temple, Dwarkadhish Temple, Science City in Ahmedabad, Vadnagar, and the Gir and Devalia Safari Parks, saw a notable rise in visitors. Additionally, the Ahmedabad Metro Railway added to the list of popular spots.

Ahmedabad district, particularly Ahmedabad city, which holds the distinction of being India’s first UNESCO World Heritage City, emerged as a leading destination. The district recorded a staggering 4.26 crore visitors, with the city alone attracting 2.25 crore tourists during the financial year 2023–24.

This uptick in tourism underscores Gujarat’s growing appeal as a preferred destination, blending cultural heritage, natural beauty, and modern attractions.

Ahmedabad Leads the Charge in Gujarat Tourism Boom

Ahmedabad has emerged as a significant contributor to the Gujarat tourism boom, solidifying its status as a top destination. Declared India’s first UNESCO World Heritage City, Ahmedabad welcomed 4.26 crore visitors in the financial year 2023–24, with the city itself attracting 2.25 crore tourists.

Key attractions such as Kankaria Lake, Science City, and the newly introduced Ahmedabad Metro Railway have significantly boosted the city’s appeal.

This surge underscores the success of Gujarat Tourism’s efforts to showcase the state’s rich heritage and modern advancements, making it a must-visit destination for travelers from across the globe.
