New Delhi, January 26, 2025 – India marks its 76th Republic Day today, commemorating 75 years of the adoption of the Constitution on January 26, 1950. The grand celebrations, held at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, showcased India’s rich heritage, military prowess, and technological advancements, reinforcing national pride and unity.

A Grand Parade at Kartavya Path

The Republic Day Parade commenced with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tribute at the National War Memorial, followed by President Droupadi Murmu unfurling the national flag. The event featured marching contingents, cultural tableaux, and military demonstrations, highlighting India’s strength and diversity.

This year’s parade saw a display of 16 tableaux from various states and Union territories and 15 tableaux from central ministries and departments, each presenting unique themes related to cultural heritage, technological progress, and social initiatives.

Indonesian President as Chief Guest

A special highlight of this year’s celebrations was the presence of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto as the chief guest. His visit signifies the growing diplomatic and strategic ties between India and Indonesia, with both nations recently signing agreements in defense, health, digital technology, and maritime cooperation.

Military Might on Display

India’s military power was on full display, featuring some new and advanced weaponry. The Indian Army’s Battle Surveillance System ‘Sanjay’ and the DRDO’s surface-to-surface tactical missile ‘Pralay’ made their debut in the parade, showcasing India’s defense capabilities. The Indian Air Force also performed an aerial display with fighter jets and helicopters, leaving spectators in awe.

Google’s Special Doodle for Republic Day

Adding to the celebration, Google released a special Republic Day doodle, featuring animals in traditional attire, symbolizing India’s biodiversity and cultural vibrancy. The creative artwork highlights the unity in diversity that defines the nation.

Nationwide Celebrations

Apart from the capital, Republic Day festivities took place across the country, with flag hoisting ceremonies, cultural programs, and patriotic performances in schools, colleges, and government institutions. Citizens participated enthusiastically, expressing their love for the nation.
